No Go

No go on my strength training today. My hamstring does feel better. Still have some twinges but I think in a few weeks I will be good to go again. :)

Still Resting

Well, I got through another day with no run. I taught Strength class and did a lot of it with my participants, I just stopped when I felt painful twinges in my hamstring or glute. All I could think about today was how good a run would feel, but I know it would not be a good idea. A friend asked if I would be doing the Living History Farms Cross Country race in November and what seemed like a good idea a few months ago is now a scary one. While I think it would be great fun, i don't want to take the chance of running on uneven terrain and reinjuring myself. For now I am sticking with sidewalks and treadmills. :)

So tomorrow I begin my strength training regimen. Not really looking forward to it, but who knows, maybe it will grow on me.

Darn Hammie

Well, it is official, I am injured. I thought i was being a weenie but i am in pain! My hamstring, quad, and adductor are so sore and tight...can't run.

My plan is to take a few more days off and ice. I am going to start strength training...I am not a fan, but I am going to start. I figure while I am off...and I might be off running for a few weeks, I should take advantage of the extra time to get hooked on lifting. Hooked might not be the right word, but i will do my best. :).

I have too many goals to quit training, but I need to be smart. I have an ultimate goal of running a marathon in under 4 hours...more specifically in 3 hours, 45 minutes. So...I go back to the drawing board, rest, and begin my training again later. hopefully no more than two weeks for now.

Cross Train Workout

Went to prairie life fitness this morning at 6 AM - very big for me because I am SO not a morning person! Did an easy elliptical and upper body strength workout. My hamstring is still sore so I am taking it easy. Hope to get back to running this weekend!
